I’ve been self-employed almost my entire adult life and I’ve done a lot of different things. I started out in the asphalt business. I can remember that it was a very hard dollar to earn, but I was a young man at the time and was able to do what was needed both physically and emotionally. I can remember, as if the work wasn’t hard enough, I was also trying to schedule jobs and line them up for the week. It’s a good bet that all my scheduling was going to need to be reworked several times. The people that were supposed to be scheduled for Monday are now wanting it done on Tuesday and so on. Needless to say, it was very stressful.

I prayed for years for God to give me something better. I can remember when it was winter time and there was no way possible to do any asphalt work till March when the weather finally warms up. I was hanging out at a mall one day because there was nothing better to do, and I noticed that everyone who walked by pretty much was wearing something that had a logo on it. It was either screen printing or custom embroidery. DTF direct to film application had not been invented yet so those were pretty much your only two options when it comes to custom t-shirt. My daughter ended up going to college in Columbus Ohio so I opened up a company called T-shirt Columbus OH that’s specialized in t-shirt screen printing and embroidery on jackets and hats. After the first year, it really took off and continues to do quite well. My daughter ended up living in Columbus, so I always enjoyed visiting when I go to call on my Columbus t-shirt printing and embroidery customers.
